Nevertheless, our motto is that “we reserve the right to continually improve.” From its "Clyde built"​ origins in Campbeltown to the present day, S C McAllister and Co Ltd has offered a personal and practical service. Company History For over 35 years, S C McAllister & Co Ltd has been at the forefront of fishing boat and work boat design in the UK. In 1978 Stewart Campbell McAllister (naval architect) founded the company when he left G L Watson of Glasgow to return to his native Campbeltown.

Stewart's early designs were for wooden boats built at: Jones of Buckie, Thompsons of Buckie, Gerrards of Arboath, Forbes of Sandhaven and various Irish yards. In 1986 the company moved on to design both fishing boats and work boats in steel, beginning with several highly successful vessels built by McCrindle of Ardrossan, including "Steadfast III"​, "Renown"​, "Rymaralee"​ and the 87ft "Spes Melior V"​. At the same time, Jones of Buckie launched the "Faithful"​ (now Ryanwood FR307), followed by the ground-breaking "Crystal River"​ (now Aquarius BF89), followed by "Paragon V"​ (now Starlight PD786) and then "Copious"​ (now Ocean Way LK207), all to S C McAllister & Co Ltd designs.
